You can probably get away with at least two seasons on that line especially if you fish muskies "moderately". If you're not already aware of it you can also "reverse" the line after a season or two and effectively double the life of your investment. However, if you fish areas that are tough on your line or you cut off a lot, it's worth it to replace the line every year. On most reels you'll spend $20.00 or less. That's about the price of a lure per year.

i can go about 2-3 years. I usually change when i see the line drying out or starting to fray alot. Then you know its time.

I concur with the two to three year recommendation, you can also pull test it yourself if you have any question on it not holding up.

I just purchased a used Calcutta with a green 50lb super braid from a guy who said he hasn't used it in 5-6 years. Although I certainly plan on putting on fresh line before I take it out for a spin, I've been testing some muskie baits with it on my pond and the line is still in excellent shape. It looks and is holding up so far like it's still new.

Why not change it every year. It takes 15 bucks and 5 minutes. Pretty little investment to know you've got one less thing to go wrong. Everytime you line is in the water there is potential for a rock to put a nick in it.
