I want to make some of my own flurocarbon leaders for the upcoming season and im having trouble finding the right knot for this. Whats the best knot to use for this heavy a line? I'd rather not use a crimp for the connection if i can get away without. Any other tips would be appreciated. thanks.

I've been tying my own for 4 years now and use a uni knot. No crimps or glue.

Pretty sure there are plenty of threads here on this topic. The SEARCH function should help. Not trying to be a dick. I tie my fluorocarbon and my mono casting leaders with a perfection loop knot.

I use the nail-knot tool that i got from rollie and helens...works perfect everytime. I always put a dab of super glue on the knot after its tied just to be sure

I second the use of a nail knot. I too use the tool from Rollie and Helens. It is about thirteen $. Very easy to use. If you look close on how Lee T. knot is made is it is basically a nail knot. Never had a problem with the knot and no sleeves are used that could cut into the side of the line.

I also use uni knot for several year . If you really want to make sure that it never slip burn the remaining part of line when your done until it make a little round bubble it will act as a stopper if it slip .... And then glue it

I use 180 fluoro leaders i make myself and wouldn't do a knot...I've been double barrel crimping them forever w zero failures...when done right crimps are bulletproof...
