looking for best place to take my son fishing in june. Needs needs to be GREAT walleye. Would like if it had musky. If it had small mouth thats fine too. I live in Chicago area. no more than 12 hour drive. I could bring my boat but dont have to. Again want the lake to be STACKED on the walleyes. I want my son to catch a ton. He can fish well and is 13 years old. Not counting out a fly-in cuz THATS MY DREAM. #1 on bucket list. Thanks for your help

Our Lodge is just over 13 hours from Chicago and is then 20 minutes by boat. It is on Lake of the Woods, is remote and we have great fishing for Muskie, Walleye, Smallies, Perch and Crappies. Our smallest cabins cater to two guests. You can rent boats or bring your own. Good Luck.

Go to canada! Walleyes should still be going dood in june. Lake of the Woods(red wing lodge), or the Indian Chain(Clarks camp). Good Muskie options also. Muskie season doesn't open till mid June.

That...and Barbee Chain is nowhere near Indy, meaning, Indianapolis. I'm sure he's meaning Indiana.

Years ago...there was a fishable population of Walleyes in the Barbee Chain.

Witch Bay Camp on the on the Northeast section of Lake of the Woods is a drive in camp, 13.5 hrs from Chicago (towing a boat). Excellent Walleye fishing as well as Smallmouth, Muskie season opens 3rd weekend of June. With the early ice out the action on muskies should be good from the opener. Pike are also very active this time of the year.

it sounds like you want the walleye fishing to be stupid good - "no brainer fishing" .... I would highly recommend doing a fly-in with your son it will be a great experience that neither of you will forget (forget the muskies). Drive to International Falls and catch a float plane! Something like this: http://www.rustymyers.com/maps

Lac Seul...period. If you want "stupid walleyes" and a few smallmouth bass and then some decent pike fishing (if you can ever find the cabbage weeds) then go to Lac Seul. Numbers and size. Plus, it's a drive-to and no flying. Most lodges have good rentals with 50-60 hp, four stroke, electric start motors. Walleyes in June are usually between 4-10 feet. We go at the end of June and hammer them with jigs. Other guys use spinners, etc.
