Posts: 57 Location: LENA IL | Stayed at an Island Camp on Eagle a few years back and had a bad experience(not the fishing) and now my group wants to stay away from them. Moving to LOTW and it seems most are Island canps so I was looking for any suggestions on the South East side but won't rule out the NWA. Thanks!

Posts: 2015 | There are dozens of drive to resorts on LOTW. When you say South east are you referring to Nester Falls area? For N.W Angle I'd check out Jakes, Angle outpost or Young's Bay.

Morson area: Red Wing Lodge, Mylie's Place, Buena Vista. Those are the three I would consider staying at if I were in that area. Others can chime in on the Nestor Falls area.

I highly recommend Witch Bay Camp. The private road that leads to the camp is about 30 minutes north of Souix Narrows. This section of the woods has many rock complexes and areas of deep water so it will generally warm up to a consistent 70 degrees after mid July. Water clarity depending on the area averages about 3 feet. Bloom is not that bad compared to the southern sections. I've been going up here for the past 11 years and make two trips, 10 days in July and 10 day in September. The nearest camp is 10 miles away and is a boat in resort, so you can find a lot of pressure free areas to hunt muskies, and there are a lot of big girls that roam these waters.

Posts: 770 Location: Ames, Iowa | What does anyone know about Helliar's resort. Is it on LOTW? Looked on Google Earth and it appears to be on another lake.

Posts: 1767 Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | Helliar's is right in Nestor Falls...it's not really your typical resort as it also is a multi purpose store that happens to rent cabins and boats but feels more like a motel type setup..it's also right on top of the very busy public launch....it might be a good price option but really is too busy in that little downtown corner for my liking and not a great overall Canadian experience in my opinion

What about Tamarack Island Wilderness Lodge. Drive to the launch and a short 20 minute boat ride gets you into some pretty remote spots.
