Good dependable motor. Use lots of gas at top end. Very upgradable if you like more power.

Great motor! Very reliable, 4 mpg at 3500 rpm on bass boat.

Very good motor I have had one for a while and have had no problems to date. Like the motor and the performance.

What exactly do you mean by upgradable?? Easily modified? I just got a 690vs with one on it last fall, only had it out twice in the last couple weeks, but it starts quickly and runs smooth. Still trying to figure out prop though.
Thanks

Have been running the same one since 97 with only one trip to the shop (T&T relay went bad - $18). Regular maintenance and we've always used Quicksilver Premium Plus and High Perf Gear lube. Not sure if it matters but it's worked well so we continue to use those products. We also. Hangs the plugs every year whether they need it or not - water pump impeller every 3. Finally we've switched to Non-Oxy gas exclusively and Ive noticed it seems to run a bit better - again may e it's in my head but it's worked.
Congrats on the new rig!

Lots of performance upgrades to get more power out of the motor. Examples: shaved heads, reeds, Brucato Intake, ECU reprogram, exhaust tuner,....

Figured those were some of the things you meant. I've never really thought about messing with an outboard before, but might have to do some research now.
Thanks,
Shawn
