Location: Nordeast Minneapolis | Question about side imaging... for those of you that have it, do you use it? Do you find it useful for musky fishing? Is it an actually useful tool, or more of a nifty feature?
And what it really comes down to... is it worth an extra $500? I'm considering upgrading my dash unit, and the unit I'm thinking about is $1,000, or $1,500 with the side imaging. I do some trolling (not a lot) and some fishing of waters I'm not that familiar with (not a lot). I'm almost entirely mono-species... I do some panfishing, but mostly if I'm out fishing, I'm chasing muskies.
So I'd love some honest reviews! Do you have it? Do you love it? Do you use it? Or is it a nice feature that gets looked at once in awhile? |

| I use it all the time and find it invaluable for fishing water that is new to me. It allows me to search and scout potential areas quicker and more thoroughly. |

| It's really cool, sometimes you catch fish from "Stupid" areas whith out earlly knowing the reason why....Alot of the time, run over it with side/down inaging, and you see things that you can't with conventional sonar. I use it along the shoreline also....Troll or run the boat along the shore, waypoint underwater features that look promising (Especially those that aren't visible from the surface) and come back to fish them later. Hope this helps
