Check out Crazy Moon Flies and Bucktails. I just got a bunch from him and they look great. Jeff is a great guy to deal with. http://www.fishcrazymoon.com/

you may want to buy my book, TOOTHY CRITTERS LOVE FLIES. Check it out at my web site: www.pikeflyguy.com. It'll definitely get you started on the right foot, and musky are rare enough, you don't ewant to spend too much time with "on the job training." There's patterns for great musky and pike flies, if you tie. If not, contact me. I usually raise and catch more musky on flies than hardware-casters in the same boatr with me. Good luck.

Location: MN | You can get some well tied flies online. There are a bunch of shops out there with good patterns for sale in addition to what was noted above by others. http://www.greatlakesflys.com/ http://haywardflyfishingcompany.com/full-service-wisconsin-fly-shop... http://www.flyshop.com/ http://www.thornebros.com/shop/pc/home.asp (ask for fly shop, they have musky flies) Otherwise if you want to tie your own this book is an excellent resource and has some great patterns. http://www.muskieontheflybook.com/ Finally, if you are looking for some starter flies shoot me a PM. I have a bunch of home-made creations from my days when I regularly chased esox on the fly. I can't guarantee quality or action but used to be pretty good at the vice. I would sell some for cheap to cover the cost of my hooks plus shipping. But as noted above, I would recommend purchasing some flies new.

Posts: 1663 Location: Kodiak, AK | Thanks for the recommendation above. My site needs updated, but here's some newere flies I've put out. I'm not a production tier....I've done that in the past and just don't have time for it right now. So I pretty must just do smaller, custom orders built to someone's specs. I like tying big! Posts: 540 Location: Leech Lake, Walker MN | Fishing with Larry Dahlberg for many years when it comes to fly fishin for muskies bigger isn't always better. The best one we have used is 4-5 " black and some orange with a strip of rabbit fur it ads some weight when wet and then it's all most neutral buoyant in the water .this is just what I have learned over the years with Larry

Awesome flies! Thanks. Don- You are correct that big isn't always the ticket. I do fish smaller flies as well. Note I said I like "tying" big. I fish all sizes of flies.

Posts: 9 | Wow those flies look great! I'm leaning towards smaller flies because I just purchased an 8wt redington combo. The river I will be fishing has a lot of muskies but haven't seen one over 40" yet, and the river is very narrow. I won't have to make any long casts. Will anyone be at the wausau musky show with some flies I could look at and/or possibly purchase? Thanks
