Location: Sycamore, IL | I don't know if it is alright to post this, but if you go to the Bass Boat Central web site and look in their restoration section you will find step by step instructions on wet sanding your gel coat...some guy on there re-did an older Bass Cat and got terrific results! Good luck.

| If you are looking to remove scratches you will need to be very careful that you do not remove too much and "silver" your poly flake, and may need to fill in the scratch first to avoid creating more problems.
The way you sand the gel coat is with wet/dry paper in progression from say 120 or 150 up to 1500 followed by polishing compound. You need to use plenty of water, rinse your paper often and make sure that you have removed all of the previous grit marks before progressing to next grit. I have found that using 2" rigid foam insulation chunks as a sanding block works very well for conforming to contuors of a boat, and remain stiff enough to apply pressure when needed |

| Try and buff it out instead, if you do wet sand try and keep it around 600 and up on the grit, stay away from edges, there are a few steps to buffing it out. Be very careful. |
