1. Penn 975: With the handle adjusted to the furthest out setting, sometimes the reel will engage on a cast. As such, it's starting to feel a little rough after 4 seasons. I've torn it down and looked at everything, but there's no apparent wear. I am thinking a new main gear/pinion gear is in order. Before I order the parts, is there anything else that would cause a reel to grind? And any parts other than the two gears that I should consider replacing?

2. Revo Toro 5.4:1: A while back you mentioned a part that was defective, and should be replaced. Is this part also bad on the Winch? And what about the 50 series Revo's? I looked at the #'s on the reel seat, and only one out of 4 had the number you listed.

3. General maintenance question: I've always been told that everything in a reel should just have a small drop of oil, unless it has teeth. (i.e. a gear) Is that true? What about the pawl/worm gear? I oil mine pretty much daily, but the oil never seems to last more than a few hours. Would I be better off using grease?

Thanks!
