Is my 4.8L chevy truck big enough to pull an 18 ft fiber glass boat a few times a week and last me?

Last year I towed my 620 ranger with a 3/4 ton chevy van that had a 4.8 V8 did not have the power the 6.0 had but did the trick.

I tow my 17 1/2 ft fiberglass boat with both my 5.4 F-150 and my 4.7 dodge durango and neither one has a problem. In fact i get better mileage with the durango and it seems to tow just a tad easier. I dont think you should be concerned.

I towed my (almost) 17'er with a 115 with a 6 cylinder Jeep Cherokee. It had plenty of power. 10 years ago gas trucks were not available with engines as powerful as that 4.8 but boats were not smaller.

You will be just fine. Stopping is more important then going anyway.

that would be a joke to a Vortec V8. You don't need a big 8.1 liter or Duramax to pull a boat. That 4.8 will do just fine.

You'll be OK, but your gas mileage will drop a bit.

you will be fine. like said in a previous post trucks of the past didn't even come slose to the power of the newer vehicles. I used to have an 88 silverado with the 350 that made about 200hp and pulled my friends 18" pro v just fine. HAHAH it made high school fun taking his dads boat out.

I just did a highway pull with my 06 GMC K1500 single cab 4x4 shortbed with 4.8 liter and 3.42 gears. Hauling a 17ft Nitro loaded down with 150 Merc on the back, at 65-70mph on mostly flat road I was only turning about 1650-1800rpm

I have a 4.7 in my Jeep Cherokee. Pulls my 18.5 foot Ranger just fine. Gas mileage does go down by about 2 mpg.
