| Looking to buy my gf an all purpose reel and was looking at the revo toro line but am not sure which one would be best for her. She only has one rod an 8 ft xh tackle industries rod which has a 400b on it right now but was thinking since her hands are small it might too hard for her to use all day. She mainly throws topwaters, bucktails, and regular bulldawgs. Thanks in advance for your help. |

Location: Michigan | I would also suggest the revo toro 50, but wouldn't go with the high speed (HS) or Winch. I would get the 5.4:1 ratio as that is a good all around ratio for the lures you listed. |

| OK you have one vote for the winch, one for the standard and I will muddy the water and put one vote in for the HS. I have all three but find that I am almost always choosing the HS model. Chances are, she will mostly not be tossing the really heavy stuff too much of the time and she will appreciate not needing to crank her hand off turning the lower geared winch model. Anything you want to do at anywhere moderate to higher speed will cause you to work yourself to death with the winch. Reels are like manual transmissions that only have one gear. You sort of have to think about what speed you are going to drive most of the time--not just once in a while. Marty Forman |

| HS for sure. It's as simple as slowing down your retrieve speed if you'd like to slow down. |

Abu stopped making the Toro w/5.4:1 gearing. You have to buy used or find a place that has old stock or change gears in a HS or Winch. |

Location: Mt. Zion, IL | Buy a 5.4 from Ebay. They are plentiful on there in the 50 size (new in box). My wife prefers the double handle on my reels. All of my reels now have the double handles, even bass reels. Make sure not only the reel is comfortable for her, but which handle she prefers as well. |

| Samantha has both the 5.4:1 and the Winch in the 50 series. I'd say it's about 50/50 as to which ones. She uses the Winch for double bladed bucktails, and the 5.4:1 for everything else. If I had to pick one, I'd go with the 5.4:1. It makes a bit more work pulling double 10's. I'd have forgone the winch all together for her, if not for the fact that she wants to chuck double 10's right along with the guys. I've tried them myself, and They're actually pretty nice to palm. |

| Hey, just to put my money where my mouth is....I now have three HS models along with one each of the regular and winch models. Anybody who wants to trade a HS model for one of the others...I will make the trade...Happily! I use salt water reels for all my "heavy" work, they work better, hold up better and cost less to buy in the first place...at least my Saltist 30 LW's do--probably a hundred bucks less than a Revo Toro. |
