I would suggest trying both out and see how the gear ratios work for you. The C4 is great for topwater and jerkbaits. The bigger bucktails will put some strain on the worm gears, and would be better suited to a reel with either larger gears or a lower gear ratio.

The C4 will be better suited for jerk baits with it's higher gear ratio and the Record can be a good general purpose it crankbait/bucktail reel. Will the Record reel in Cowgirls (double tens) - yes, but it's not the right reel for doing it ALL the time as either you'll be hurt or the reel will eventually fail at some point.

I thought it was the other way around, higher gear ratio for bucktails because your pulling in more line faster.Would the record be good for pulling dbl 8's?

Higher speed is good for big bucktails but you will burn up that c4 in no time. I've burned up 3 in a year before I learned
