| Is the Revo Winch-L a good enough reel to handle the beating it takes from muskies?
Has anyone used these reels for muskies? I'm not looking to go over $200 on a reel.

I looked at the specs and it has alot of the same specs the Toro's have.
Any help will be appreciated....

Location: Mt. Zion, IL | I would not personally use a Bass size Revo for musky lures. You can find a Toro 61 winch on Ebay for 200 shipped. |

Location: Esbjerg - Denmark | I have a 51 HS Toro, and has used it for 90-95 % of my time on the waters the last 4 years for pike - This includes fishing jerkbaits in every sizes, trolling deep waters whit numerous fish above 40 inch hitting the lures hard with only a 6,6 fot rod and the reel to take the punisment, and it's running smoother than ever...
Just bought a 61 Toro (normal speed) for the big blades and pounders, but have only had 4 trips whit it so far, but no problems...
As far as I'm aware, the winch is just a low-speed (4,6:1) model of the toro, so I see no reason why it shoulden't hold up.!! |

| I forgot to clarify why i am interested in the Revo Winch-L because it has a 5.4:1 gear ratio for all around fishing. I don't want a Revo Toro winch 51 or 61 with a 4.6:1 gear ratio. |

Location: Esbjerg - Denmark | Just googled it, and found out, that ABU had made a "non-Toro" version of the Winch - I can't say anything about that reel, and diden't event know it existed...
PS: The normal-speed Toro (like my 61 model) is a 5,4:1 speed  |

Abu Garcia does not make a left handed Revo Toro with a 5.4:1 gear ratio anymore,only right handed ones with a 6.4:1 gear ratio. |

| I can't speak for a Winch, but I use a Revo S (which is similar to the Winch) for small spinners and cross-over bass lures. As you said, the Winch has 5.4:1 gears, but it also has a longer handle and a bigger spool than my S. I've caught a few muskies on my S, the biggest only being 36", but it has performed beautifully. The heaviest lure I've thrown is an 8" Kickin' Minnow (about 3 oz) and the reel handled it well. I'm not sure how a Winch would work for "real" musky lures. |

| I really don't throw double 10's and up very often. I normally stick to double 8's maybe 9's. I'm just wondering how it will throw 10-12" cranks and bigger swim baits like the double dawgs and medussas. |

| Hard to say without trying one. The hardest pulling blades I've thrown with my S were Baby Girls (double 5s). It's a 6.4:1, so it pulled about like 8's on a traditional musky reel. Can't speak for crankbaits or rubber over 3 oz. I would guess a regular Bulldawg or a 10" Kickin' Minnow (about 5 oz each) would be alright, but I don't know for sure. I wouldn't drop $200 on this reel without someone giving you a clear answer as to how it handles Mag Dawg-sized lures. |

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | The ABU Revo Winch could be used for small top water or mepps, the reel has no backup pawl for A/R Bearing so I would not rip any baits with that reel, also line cap will force U to use 50lb or 65lb braid max. |
