Can anyone tell me if they have a Hummingbird 898SI flush mounted at the Console in a Ranger 1860 Angler? Im getting a new boat put together and although having it flushed mounted was an option on the ordering sheet at the dealer, Ranger has now informed me its not possible, and I have to go with the RAM mount.

If you cant speak in behalf of the HB 898, what other larger sized units have you seen flush mounted on an Angler 1860?

Thanks.

I just bought a 2011 1860 last week with a 798Si installed. I was shocked at how much room was left. There's still at least one inch per side. If Ranger says it won't fit, there must be something in the way inside the console. I'd look at mine but it's stored in a friend's building and I don't have any keys yet.

I found out Bob Jensen has one installed in his 1860, but maybe he didnt have Ranger do it. Talking with my dealer we believe it is possible to do, so we may do it there instead.

I hope so. I plan on upgrading mine. The 798 is too small.

You're better off to use a ram mount with electronics IMOP. That way you can take it out of the boat in the winter, when it's hot in the summer (heat kills electronics), can turn it for different viewing angles, send it in for repair much easier if it breaks down, and when you upgrade you don't have to plug the hole that's left behind. Pretty much the only reason to have them installed is because it looks nice if you ask me.

I fished out of a 1860 rigged by a FLW walleye tour guy, he used two of the smaller RAM mounts on the left and right side of the mounting bracket over the same dash spot the flush mount would go on a 998. Sweet way to mount IMO, without the bulk and added depth of a big 2 inch RAM. Still gave room to adjust it side to side & up and down, solid hold, and the same cost in RAMs as one big 2 incher. Plus the ability to remove it.

Hope that makes sense, but it was slick.
