Planning to go with some friends up to the Rideau area ( Red Horse Lake) this year, and wondered , if there's muskies in this waterway? I heard there's Northerns, but no mention of Muskies. Anyone know? Thanks

Are you referring to the Rideau River or Big/Little/Upper Rideau Lakes in Ontario? If the former then yes, but if the latter then no.

To be honest, not really sure, I know I'm fishing the Upper Gananoque River System.
Near Lansdowne and Lindhurst, Ontario.

You'll have to go a fair bit further north to find muskies. Charleston Lake has tremendous bass (smallies and largies) and northern fishing. It's also stocked with lakers. Most of the lakes in that area pretty much have bass and northerns for their top gamefish species. Lots of bluegills/pumpkinseeds and perch. Check out Lake Opinicon if you're up there. I used to spend May-early July on Opinicon for several years.

If you're planning on going up there in May (your other thread indicated you were) very little will be in season. Seasons: panfish are open all year, pike and walleye open 2nd Saturday in May, bass and muskie don't open until 4th Saturday in June, lake trout won't open until 4th Saturday in May. Enforcement has more of a presence in the Rideau Lakes areas than others, so be aware...
