| Hey can you guys tell me what the thornebros predator XH and XXH blanks are like? (lure ratings etc.) being out in western ny I dont have the opportunity to see any of them at any of the shows but am trying to get an idea of which rod id like better... |

| Here is a general guidline. What specifically are you looking for? I have one of each and they each have great uses specific to certian baits and there is definately some cross over.
MH Great Small Bucktail, top water, gliders, jigs, small cranks... etc
H 10 blades, mag dawgs, Dive and Rise Jerks 6-10 Inch Cranks
XH Big Blades, Pounders, Big Tubes, Big Jerk baits, 10-14 inchCranks etc...
XXH All the heavy stuff. Casts 2 Pounders no Problem. |

| I think the XH is what im looking for being a nice crossover...throughout the spring/summer i will throw mostly 9" dive and rise jerks, 7.5" phantoms, and monster tubes. once fall comes around id like something that could throw big sexy tubes, 10" gliders, and monster medussas as well. |

Location: Smith Creek | I'll amend that and say 4 to as big as you can stand to throw, but the stiffness is comparable to other manufacturer's 4-16 oz. The heavy in my opinion is too light for dive rise baits and twin 10's, ideal for crankbaits and smaller blades. Again that's my opinion and I like a stouter rod. Sounds like the XH would be good for you for everything but the monster Medussa. |

| well im trying to find out what type of blank id like to use for a custom rod...Ill throw the monster medussa when im swinging for the fences but not enough where I think it would warrant an XXH...I just dont want to feel like im using a broom stick btu im not sure what they feel like since i havent had the chance to feel one in my hands or fish with one |

Location: Smith Creek | The XH is somewhere between a Sling Blade and a Big Dawg (Legend Tournaments) power wise, slightly slower. Best all around rod in the Predator line up in my opinion. |

From what I am hearing you say it sounds like IMHO that the XH is a great fit. It can handle the Monster Dussa for the days you are feeling fiesty andtit will take the rest no problem. If I could only have one it would be the XH. |

| I had TI rods...loved them too, but i decided id like to have an american made custom rod (no offense to TI at all just a personal preferance)and have heard many good things about the predator blanks. I used the XH split grip models and wanted to get a rod very similar to that |

| Not to make it more complicated, but you can also trim length off the tip of a Predator to get slightly more stiffness. I have a 9'6" H with an inch off the tip that is built for double 10s, just a bit stiffer than the regular heavy. Best thing to do is talk to Lonnie the head rod builder. Even better is going into the shop and feeling how the blanks handle.
The XXH will toss a 2 pounder. I fish with Mojo and have seen him cast it. |

Location: Right behind you (tap, tap) BOOO | Just a thought - Why not just call TB and ask to talk with Lonnie expalin what you are looking for and what you are intending to throw with the rod, I'm sure he'll point you in the right direction and the info he gives would probably be a lot more sound then anything you'd get on this board. |

| Great choice going with Lonnie. I found that a Hvy trimmed 2" if perfect for me for 10's and 12's. A XHvy trimmed an inch for all the big stuff I use. A XXH was too much . If the weight of the rod is a concern there is a big difference between the Hvy and the XHvy. My Hvy is 9'6" and XHvy is 9'. |
