New to the musky game. Seen a few shows where they are trolling for the brutes. Why do they put the rod tips down under water when trolling for Musky? From what I know, most musky trolling lures don't have a problem getting down to the proper depths.
Thanks!

To keep weeds from running down the line and fouling your baits.

Weeds,Leaves, etc. I think there is a difference in how your bait runs according to the angle of your rod...

Maybe trolling Spinner Baits over the top of weeds.

It's all about catching the weeds also long leaders with a 3 inch tag at the beginning of the leader to further catch more weeds.
Sometimes you could use a hook with the points cut off as well at the beginning of the leader.

All of the above,... and sometimes it helps with "spacing" your lures out so they dont tangle up when running more than one rod of the side.
