Not sure if it's true or not, but this past weekend I spent time with Mr. Hellraiser himself, working on some Cherry Twists and Bear Claws to go for an order from Japan. Some gentlemen had come over the Pacific Ocean who own a company which runs 22 tackle stores in Japan.
Pretty exciting!

I worked for Skeeter products for three years during the late 80's and early 90's. One of the largest Skeeter Dealers in the world was located in Japan. Toby ordered his Skeeter Bass Boats by the shipload! Bass fishing is a big deal in Japan! If there were Muskies there....[]

I've never heard of it snowing over there, probably too humid with the ocean.
Any of our memberbase with military experience who were stationed over might be able to give us a little perspective?[:)]

Muskies in Japan- I don't think so, unless Sponge Bob smuggles some fingerlings into the country.

Rob- I was stationed on the southern most island- Okinawa for 2 years- It fits your profile- actually a tropical paradise....and a scuba diver's paradise. Most Okinawan's don't consider themselves Japanese. The Island was conquered. The northern islands of the Japanese archipelago and the main island mountain interior get lots of snow and can be damned cold, i.e., because of the humidity levels.

Almost forgot, photo of biggest great white shark I've ever seen was in local paper (Naha, Okinawa) caught in a trawler net.- w/ typical Okinawan fisherman (~ 4' - 5' tall)standing beside the propped open mouth. THE SHARK'S MOUTH WAS TALLER! The deepest water in the world is just off the eastern side of the Japanese archipelago. + some of the nicest people I know are Japanese or Okinawan. The Okinawan's suffered terribly during the American attack on Okinawa (it was Japanese strong hold) The Okinawan's call it the typhoon of steel! But fish & fishing is part of their daily lives.

From what I hear - there used to be a good population of Muskies in Japan, before the Godzilla problem of the late 60's

Well, I don't know about muskies in Japan, but I do know the Japanese are curious about our fishing lures. My duck hunting buddy, who used to run LeLure tackle, told me he had some Japanese inquire about a 20,000 piece lure order.
