I'm all for supporting American's by buying American. However, in this instance if you are buying from a US based company (Is there a NON US based Musky lure maker besides maybe Salmo?) that is all that matters. Why? Because a small lure making business isn't going to "create" jobs.

If you support the business of I would imagine lots of bait builders you are supported them, and maybe 1 or 2 other people.

Maybe I'm off base here. If so say so. I'm kinda curious.

You have a good point but there is also a mix. A company like St Croix is 90% (a guess) made in the USA and they support a lot of jobs here too. Then you have a company like Rapala who makes most of their tackle overseas BUT they support a lot of jobs here through sales, marketing, shipping/warehouse/support staff, etc. Last you have the small tackle companies who make their stuff in house or part in house and part overseas who pretty much are a 1 or 2 man show and will never get any bigger no matter what. Basically I have made a rule where I will grow my business until I need to hire someone then I will back off a little. Just one employee is a real tax pain and you get dingged big time for it by our lovely government. I do have a lot of people in the USA who I work with and they make money off of my business but they are all consultants, contracted or tollers for me. Makes it much easier to run a business and my small company can still support a lot of people.

Leaders from Stealth Tackle are still built one at a time in the USA as they have been from day 1. Our quality components and materials come from various different countries. A few of the distributors we go thru have large facilities in the US that employ quite a few US workers.

My Toyota truck is the most "American made" vehicle, in America, when you look at all the parts!! I know all of you "American made" drivers, don't want to hear it, but it's true. It's no more foreign, than a Chevy.
So if you like a lure, and it works, than buy it.

Everyhing about my Trueglide's are made right here in Mn. With the exception of the custom topcoat, made in California.

Musky Mayhem Tackle
Made in the USA

Heard their skirts are tied in Haiti and then shipped to the USA. Does that still count as made in the USA. Maybe so since skirts are a small part of the entire lure?

gordonmann69, You heard worng. Ive been in Brad and Carries shop, they are all tied right here in the good ole U.S.A.!!!!

none of the flashabou/mylar type skirt material is made in america, theres factorys in china and india that print/cut the dressing. just guessing but im sure the plastisol i use, and the other companys use are not fully made in america, id say its safe to say that they are re packaged in usa. I strongly doubt MI is made in america- last i heard they go for 2$ a pop shipped to the us- start a new thread, assembled in america-

Sorry,........ but you guys that are driving Foreign Car/Trucks are not driving American vehicles,....All of the foreign vehicles made in this country still take the profits back to their home country. Japan,Germany,Korea,Italy, etc.

I think I 'm going thru a mid life crises because I have an urge to buy a car that can go 160+mph,....... I'm thinking a vintage Vette or perhaps a Shelby/Cobra , Maybe a Viper,... Although I can see myself in a 180mph. Lotus,...But not at $250,000.00

Think about it..........

If you go back in history, our lineage for most of us here comes from overseas.
It's a global economy.
It's not going to change now.
Guess what country is number one on Minnesota's export list?

the major thing that everybody seems to don't want to admit is all the loan to the usa came from china.
like it or not usa owe something like 2 & 1/2 trillion!
so if no one buy some china products, guess who is going to collapse?

I think that 99% of the lures made in The Basement are American Made.
Did anyone say Fishall Lures by Mike King?

If musky mayhem baits where made in the USA with US components they would be proud of it and label as such.

Same with other baits.

Everything could be made in the USA, but the extra cost would be passed onto us, the consumer, and the US isn't nearly as good at certain things as other countries. Trade allows us to specialize in one thing and benefit from other people's specialties.

Swiss gearing (Abu Garcia)
Japanese quality control (Lucky Craft and Shimano)
Korean electronics (Samsung)

That said, with musky lures if I look at the back of the packaging and see a US mailing address I know that my purchase is supporting someone who loves this hobby as much as I do and took their time to give me that product, regardless of where it's made.
