Hi everyone,

Just purchased a navionics hotspots north chip for the upgraded version of lake of the woods. According to Navionics, all of lake of the woods was mapped in High definition and was supposed to be on the chip. I checked both the status of the canada chip and the north chip...both mark HD. But...when I zoom in on the canadian portion, I did not get one foot contours...just the general map. This was up around the angle. I also went down to the heart of sabaskong bay and it also was not in high definition.

Now...I go down to the minnesota portion and it seemed to be mapped for it.

I guess I am a bit confused about this and honestly, a little miffed as well... I sent off an email to navionics to see if they have some clarification for me as well....

Anyone have any insight on this or am I just missing something?

Thanks

Steve

I have both the navionics and the lake master chip. Perhaps someone can correct me if I am wrong and Navionics was up there mapping all last summer, but I believe Navionics has mapped the Minnesota side and used the canadian hydro information for the Canadian side. Lake master has mapped from the angle across to Whitefish bay and south all the way. They have yet to map north of there. Lake Master is more accurate in those areas of Lake of the Woods on the Canadian side over Navionics. There is nothing wrong with Navionics in terms of navigation however. It is just if you are looking for more detail then go lake master. Unless something changes if a person runs a lowrance unit once the stores run out of lake master LOTW chips there will be no choice for lowrance owners except Navionics. I recently went to the store and bought a backup brand new lakemaster lotw chip that is staying in the box as a just in my current ones get wrecked.

So when I fish the Canadian side from the Angle to Sabaskong I use my Navionics for a big view (map type look) on one of my GPS screens and the Lakemaster for detailed information on my bow and other console gps unit. Also the newest lotw lakemaster chip is the best one for detail. The older ones had a few "gaps" that got reworked in the newer chip.

Hope that helps.
