Location: Waconia, MN | We all know that Johnson Outdoors Inc, bought LakeMaster this year. I guess what I didn’t know, and I know I’m not alone on this, but I was unaware that they were going to stop making the chips available for all Lowrance and Garmin units. I jsut found this out today from LakeMaster.
IMO I find this stupid, it seems like they are trying to push me, and other into purchasing a Humminbird unit, and I don’t like that. I also know I have a choice, so it’s not like they have a gun to my head or anything like that, but I’ve got two perfectly find Lowrance units LCX 37c and LCX112, and when they go, I was thinking about upgrading to the new HD units. Don’t get me wrong, Humminbird makes a good unit too, but I don’t like being told which map chip I can use.
I also know that everyone out there is entitled to their own opinion so I’m not trying to start a bash, or thread wars, but just wanted to get a feel of what everyone uses, and likes. So with that said, I’m just curious to see how many of you use Lowrance and how many use Humminbird, and what chips ( LakeMaster/Navionics) you use in them.
I know that on the newer Humminbirds you can't run Navionics, so I wasn't sure about the older units.

| Scott you can run Navionics chips on new Humminbird products....I have a 998SI and an 858 from 2010 that I run Navionics Chips on. THis link ftom there page highlights what works on what units.

| i thoguht i just read this articcle before did i i would get the huminbird anyways they make better ones and there screens dont fogs up like lowrances does. |

| I've had Lowrance units since I've owned boats and I've never had a screen fog up. Guess I'm just lucky. |

Location: Waconia, MN | I agree, I just wanted to get a feel for what units people used, and what chip. I wasn't trying to beat a dead horse, or anything. It just ticked me off a little that they would just stop making a chip for Lowrance once they got bought out, but I understand its business. |

Location: Twin Cities | Switched to HB this year and have been using Lake Master for years. Very happy with the new bird! Love the depth highlight feature especially when navigating Lake of the Woods.

| i too am happy with humminbird. i have lowrance on my boat now, but had all hbird on the boat i just sold. I miss my hbird stuff. It just worked better and never lost bottom even at full speed. My Lowrance stuff always does. |

Location: Contrarian Island | your transducer is not mounted correctly....I can run my boat at 54 mph and my Lowrance 102c, never loses bottom at any depth.. |
