I have a color humminbird w/ gps which i really like. It worked phenomenal and showed great detail... then started to barely read bottom and appeared very faded w/ hardly any redline showing bottom and just kept cutting out. After moving the transducer several times w/o any luck. I switched batteries around, chgd and used hull cleaner on everything. This seemed to do the trick all summer and early fall, now it does it again... tried the same thing but nothing... checked connections, wires, fuses, cleaned, but nothin...now its just frustrating and i've just learned to live w/ it. any ideas???? just in time for the 1 yr warranty to expire too

Personally I think It might be a fray or broken wire. Not an electronic expert, just a thought.

Sounds just like my first 'Bird. Was a corrupt transducer cable, all my fault. Cable got a wee bit pinched, and after a few years it just couldn't make a good connection through the pinch point. Bought a new transducer/cable and all was well.
