| i see that Humminbird (finally) released the new Waypoint Management system with the recent software updates. http://www.humminbird.com/uploadedFiles/Humminbird/Content/Support/Product_Manuals/Waypoint%20Management%20Guide.pdf among a number of updates that make using and editing waypoints easier such as editing multiple waypoints at once, grouping waypoints, and different waypoint categories, they also included a way to set the default icon to anything you want. so now i can lay down 20 weedline icons without having to manually edit every one to make it look like a weed instead of a blue dot. (why anyone would want to do that is the subject for another thread!) Lowrance has had this feature forever, and it's good to see Humminbird finally including that ability. |

| Is the software update for the unit or desktop managment? How far back can I update, I have a 2008 957 and 917cs. I would LOVE to be able to set my icon default for waypoints!! |

| it's for on your unit.
i'm not sure about the software for your particular units. if you go on Humminbird's website and register your units, it will provide you with the latest software updates.

| I logged onto my Humminbird account and the waypoint management update is not there. I have a 998 and it says that the newest version is 5.700 (which I have). Is this waypoint management system found in places other than your account? |

| it looks like they're in the process of rolling out the new software version, so depending on your model i'd be it will show up soon. it's already available on the website for xxx7 series models, i'd bet that xxx8 series will be next.
i got separate email notifications for my 998 and 1198 saying that new software was available for each of them with the Waypoint Management, but it hasn't actually shown up in my account yet either. my guess is that it's just a matter of days, so i'll keep checking back.

What version of software includes the new Waypoint Management menus?
This will depend on the model number of your product. Several models have these menus included on version 5.840, other versions will have a higher number release number. If your model does not have GPS options or if it does not have a software version equal to or higher than 5.840, Waypoint Management will not be available for your model.

Location: WI | Sent Humminbird an email about update for my 898 and this was the answer I got...
Last week you may have received an email from the Humminbird Select team about a software release for Waypoint Management.
I wanted to personally apologize for erroneously sending that information out to 1198, 1158, 998, 958, 898 and 858 owners. While we have had this new feature released on other products, it is not yet available for the above models.
The above models will have Waypoint Management released before the end of the 2011 calendar year. It is not yet being released on these products because Waypoint Management will release with another new feature at the same time. This requires additional testing. Unfortunately, at this time, I cannot discuss what this new feature is but you will be notified when it becomes available.
Any gueses on the outher "new" feature??  |
