| I know a lot of you hunt in the fall. When do you hang up the rod for good, and, pick up the bow or rifle? I fish until ice up. The only fish I've heard refered to, as hunted, is muskies. You don't hear of anyone hunting bass or bluegills.[:)] |

| while I partake in hunts, I fish till ice up as well!
Nothing better than a combo hunt though! |

| Looks like I'm hanging up the hunting gear for good and spending all my time on the water from now on. The 2 females in my household won't eat any venison IF I do bring it home, so I'm not going to bother trying to kill something. The DNR has managed to scare the appetite right out of them. I'll be spending the rest of my falls chasing fish instead of game.
The land is going up for sale, so is the bow hunting gear, the stands etc. I'm hanging on to the firearms in case I get the urge to take a trip someplace else. But for right now, I'll be hunting skis late this fall.

| Growing up, that is what I did in the fall, along with auto racing and trapping. Ducks, geese, pheasants, raccons cyotes and fox. I can't afford to race anymore and my hunting spots are all developed or been back stabbed out of. Public spots are free for all around here and I am not fond of being shot at or in the direction of.
For now on I fish untill the boat don't float. |

Only problem is when I stick a fish my Lab wants to retreive it...[:)]

| I will usually mix it up throughout fall. If the conditions are favorable, I will grab the bow and head to the woods. Otherwise, it is strictly muskie hunting until the 30th of November. |

| I gave up my small game and bow hunting about 5 or 6 years ago to pursuit muskies in the fall.I do gun hunt for deer but I am not serious about it as I used to be.I enjoy the fall bite,no pleasuer baoters, jet skiers or water skiers. The only people at the boat landings are water fowlers or fisher people. I think that is why I enjoy the fall so much.Good Luck to all,Paul |

| It’s always a tough choice for me, to go bowhunting or to go fishing during this time of year.
I just kinda go back and forth until both seasons are over.

| This year I plan on splitting my free time between fishing and hunting. I have to get my bow stands up this weekend, and will be at the range with Sue this month getting her used to the bark from a .270.
I have a tough time deciding on which to do when, usually the weather and moon phase helps me along. If there is ANY chance of rain, I am fishing. Don't want to take the chance on a washed out bloodtrail.
As the anglers who have stayed here can tell you, other than Beav's special sausage patties, I buy absolutely no commercially created meats. Everything in my freezer came from the woods and waters around Rhinelander.
Grouse, Venison, Pike, Crappies, Squirrels, Snowshoes....yummy.[] |

| I take 14 days off from Oct 30-nov 13. I bowhunt very heavily the first week, then hit the muskies again after. The rut week for me on private land is such a nice break from fishing, having average 36 hours per week in the boat this year. Its nice to be all alone in a stand for a week(hopefully I can crack a big hoop one early this year), knowing the only person I might see is my dad bumbling around to his stand. |

| For me its mainly bowhunting. Oh wait its all bowhunting with the exception of a guide fishing date once a year in the fall. Other than that the arrows are flying and the lead wont be far behind.

| I posted this to help me see why I have the water to myself this time of year. The muskie hunters seem to be the only ones left. I used to hunt so I can appreciate the combo concept. Mark H. cracked me up with the camo bobber and a muskie retreaving dog. All I have, to help with there, would be a hand carved duck shaped bobber. Help yourself to the royalties on that idea. We are a sick lot![:0] [] |

| The last few years I started fishing more in the fall. It's new to me, fall fishing and muskies, so it's a learning challenge. I used to bird hunt from opening day, but too many birds. There wasn't actual hunting. Just walk in the woods and shoot a limit or drive down a few roads and shoot a limit. I'm going to use my old recurve bow this year the few times I'll go out. |
