Location: Eagan, MN | I have a C3 w/ the 4.1 gears that I would like swap out for 5.3 gears. Is this possible? It's an older one w/ the push button release and no instant anti-reverse. If this can be done, where's the best place to buy gears? And please don't say Hattera's... I'm still waiting for the power handle I ordered 5 years ago. |

Location: Mt. Zion, IL | This may be hard depending on the model of 7000. The CS Pro Rocket shaft diameter through the pinion gear is different than some of the others. This will be the determining factor on most of these. If it is a big game 7000 (gold), it is a simple gear change. Pikemaster will probably be your best bet on that. |

Location: Eagan, MN | Thanks for the input. I probably bought it about 7-8 years ago, if that helps. It's not a big game, I have several of those that are even older, but they are black and have 5.3 gears. It's just a plain old silver C3... it has the hard plastic grip on the handle, not the new rubbery ones. |

Location: Mt. Zion, IL | pull the entire drive side off (thumb screws) and measure the shaft diameter where the shaft goes through the pinion gear. |

| If I remember correctly it would require a new gear, pinion, pinion holder (which I don't think is available as a seperate piece so you would probably need an entire brake plate) and a spool from a 7500. The cost of these parts would be far more than the reel is worth and probably more than you could buy a new reel for. The parts from the current 7000's would not interchange with your reel. |

Location: Eagan, MN | Thanks for the info. Reelman, what do you think of the new 7000's as compared to my older ones? I've heard a lot of bad things, but it's kind of funny how the supposed decline in quality coincided with the introduction of dbl 10's, etc. I really like my black big games but want to keep them on other rods. And my c3 has been bullet proof and runs great, but I just like a little more line pick for when a fish charges the boat. |
