Subject: Detroit River, which license?

Was thinking of trying the Detroit River this weekend and just wanted to clairify if I needed both a MI license and Canadian, or is just a MI license fine to fish border waters?

Thanks

Just have to stay in whatever water you have the license for. Fish the MI side, only need a MI license. Just don't cross, they'll get you.

The river will probably be mud this weekend. I would check the satelite view before you go

Location: Algonac, MI
Blowing NE 25+ kts right now, going NNW tonight. (NE & N will push all the mud stirred up on LSC into the DR)

Rained about 3 inches since Sunday. Flood warnings are up for the metro Detroit surrounding areas, and up to 2-3 more inches today/tomorrow, before snow starts. It will likely still be dirt this weekend. All feeder rivers are puking nearly straight mud into SCR, LSC & DR, and over their banks this morning.

Very slight chance couple days of south winds, near end of week, may clear some water up.

License: Need Ontario for Canada side, and Michigan for state side. They do not make one that covers border waters. Do not need both, if you choose to only fish one side.
