Posts: 73 Location: sw pa | Im looking to upgrade my trolling motor.I have a minn kota maxxum 70 thrust and I was looking to upgrade to the I pilot 80 terrova.just wondering if it is worth the 1400$ price tag. I have not had any problems with the maxxum other than when its turned up its hard to control.I am a river fisherman and wonder if the gps will keep its path in the anchoring mode? Any help would be appreciated

Posts: 479 Location: Eden Prairie & Pine Island | Does anchor function hold your boat in place well in say 15 mph winds? Stronger? Same with following a trail in high winds?

Location: New Richmond, WI | I have had mine for a year. I did have trouble with the I-pilot not working but minn-cota sent a new one within 4 days. with shipping to replace the old. I have also had trouble with the footpad with the two footpad buttons sticking down on the left side. At times I will have to go down and manualy pull the buttons up so continues stops. I use the i pilot alot when I take the kid fishing so she can be in front. The anchor saves me alot when fishing alone and boating a fish in strong winds. I know it has done well up to 25 mph winds. So I have had my problems but I still like the unit. The trouble I had made me buy the 2 year warr.
