Posts: 132 | Round 3! More options and results are hidden until you vote, lets see if how it effects the results. Last time over half (52%) were off by more than an inch. Attachments ---------------- tommy crop.jpg (27KB - 137 downloads)

Posts: 2894 Location: Yahara River Chain | So Mike and Landry just how tough is it for you NOT to click on these threads? It clearly states in the title what's it about so it not vague at all about what the topic is. I see plenty of other threads I want nothing to do with and I just don't click on them and it doesn't bother me one bit.

Posts: 132 | The point of these were to get ppl to stop telling other people that their fish are not as big as they say because there is no way to tell from a photo. People guessed this fish at 36-51". The actual size is 44", which was the most common vote, but is only 22% of the population. And less than 39% got within an inch. Sorry to Landry and mike for wasting your clicks, I know your time is valuable and for there to be a thread on a public forum that does not satisfy you is unacceptable. But for the other 1000s of combined views that seem to not mind i think it was interesting to see how hard it really is to estimate a fishes size from a picture.

Posts: 1023 | Just sharing my feelings on the posts - I was not angry or irritated in any way. No offense intended. I did not realize your intent - I agree that it is very annoying when people judge or critique people's catches. It seems petty - we should just be happy for the angler who caught the fish. Having said that - I have seen a few posts where fish size was clearly exaggerated too. Landry Edited by Landry 8/28/2011 5:28 PM

Posts: 209 | I didn't realize the point of these either (I thought they were just for fun, and I rather enjoyed them). It is a dang good way to demonstrate the range of size guesses that a picture will bring forth, though. Interesting little experiment.

Posts: 567 | funny true story --I worked nights in an ER for 4 years -- one night the MD on staff was being awfully cranky with a RN over her description of a laceration on a pt's leg. He was hollering loudly at this seasoned old RN stating " there is no way in Hell that cut's only 4 inches" or something like that, Rather sharply the nurse held up two fingers about 3 inches apart and loudly stated back " IF YOU HAVE BEEN TOLD THATS 6 INCHES ALL YOUR LIFE YOU ESTIMATING SKILLS JUST FALL APART" lol
