Is your biggest fish from and how did you nail it?  Did it take you years to figure it out, did Muskyhunter help you or did you just get lucky?

Hitting PB fish or fish of a lifetime caliber is all about luck. Right place, right time, right lure.

My PB is a 53"x23" in Central Ontario in the Kawartha lakes. We had been fishing for 3 hours in October with major cold front blowing in 30km/h winds. Nothing to show for our outing but a 24" Walleye. I decided to mod a Bionic spinner bait by adding the back section of an inline bucktail to the back half for some more size. In the next 2 hours I nailed a 48, a 49.5 and my PB 53x23 all within the same 50ft of breakline shelf over 16FOW. My buddy hit nothing.

I'd say the call to add the mod to the lure was more timing and luck thank anything.

Guess I could add that I lost what would have been a new PB on the French River in 09... Easily a 55" fatty in mid Oct. on a Suick. Almost broke and almost killed my father with a rod with a hookset attempt that that caught him right in the chest. Didnt get the hooks into the fish and she shook loose at boatside.

my PB is 50 inches long and 24.5 inch girth out of the New River in Virginia. caught it on a small bucktail after reading a article in musky hunter about burning bucktails, so i have to say MHM helped me with my pb.

49.xx" x 22" - pink/pink DCG - Metro MN - She destroyed the bait on the second crank into the cast, lots of fun bringing in a big from a full cast out. Nothing special about the weather - high blue bird skies about 5:45 in the evening in late August 2009.

I caught it at Lake X on a XXX bait in XX feet of water.
The weather was XXX and the wind was blowing at X miles per hour, and the moon was in the 7th high.

Longest 52" LOTW
Only time there so far and caught without a guide. After unloading at the resort we went to a spot within sight to the island we were staying on. I was told by the guide at the resort that there were no muskies in the area and I was better off fishing for Pike. 5th cast of the trip I had a HOG go around 3 times before spinning off. Caught a 40 incher on the spot an hour later at moon rise. Told the muskie guide at the resort and he didn't believe me. Went back at peak times the next three days and got her to eat at moon rise on the last day of the trip. Ate the same double cowgirl she chased before. Finding the fish was all luck. Catching her was thanks to Musky Hunter and Dick Pearson's Muskies on the Shield and alot of luck.

Biggest fish (fat 51.5) came on Mille Lacs in September. 1 a.m. nothing special with the moon phase. Ate a double cowgirl away from the boat. She was sitting on a small patch of weeds between two larger beds that had been pounded all evening and night by other boats. She ate on the first cast to the spot and chaos ensued.

47" shallow creekbed in a Northern reservoir. Ate a pink dominatrix approximately 15 minutes after moonrise, I think it was 4:30ish. Bluebird conditions, 79* water temp, day of the full moon.

mine was a 49" hog, read somewhere online about finding the farhest point sticking out of a shallow weed bed next to deep water

I hit the weed bed and turned sharply away from the shallow weeds as to not get my lures hung up in the shallow weeds and have to stop and clean the lures off

When I turned out the lures must have hit perfect because the drag took off, I stopped the boat and knew it was bigger than MY normal, I reeled about 3 ranks and then nothing

I also read some muskie will make a run towards the boat (resistence) when hooked and to reel as fast as you can to take up any slack

Sure enough the fish took off again, brought it in, son missed with the net and the muskie cleared water

Got it back to the boat and netted it this time, I looked and seen a split treble hook, I reached in to get the fish, it shook and rolled while in the water but a hook and tooth got me

I jerked back and the net slipped from under my arm, fish and net went in the water, I grabbed net, well it was at an angle and the muskie shot out of there 100 MPH so no pics

I looked down and the split treble and lure were stuck to the side of the net

I read on MH about the reeling in the slack if it feels like a fish got off, the weed bed part I am not exactly sure where I read that?
