I have a 619 VS with a dual axle trailer. Obviously, it is heavy as heck. I've been carrying a 2 ton floor jack in case I need to change a tire. It's definitely large and heavy, but I would rather err on the side of caution, especially if I had to change alone or with my family.

Anyone have another or better suggestion for jacking a heavy boat?

Get yourself a bottle jack and a jack stand that can support the weight of the boat and trailer. I have a 19' glass boat and that combo has worked well for me and it packs down relatively small and is lightweight.

I also have a tandem axle boat trailer with 19' alumacraft and 200 hp honda, i use my vehicle jack out of my truck, if that jack can lift my 06 ram 3500 with a cummins, the trailer isn't much of an issue. Remember you still have 3 tires supporting the majority of the weight.

Stick with the floor jack. Much easier IMO from past experience. Yes it takes some room up but easier and quicker to change should you need to.

17 rigs ran in a pile of states for 40 years! We changed a flat on the bridge over the Ohio river one time...since then my jack is 1-800- AAA, worth every penny!! many of my trailers never even had a spare after I got that card! Every time I used it I was back on the road faster than if I did the change out myself.

It is almost too simple for a dual axle trailer. I have a 2.5' long piece of 6X6 lumber, cut on one end as a ramp for a tire to go up on. If it is a flat front tire, I back the back tire up on the ramp, vise-versa if it is the front. Works great. In a pinch the same can be done in a parking lot on the bumpers that keep you from pulling through. That way I don't have to carry a jack.
