Our group is looking to visit the Manitou the first or second week of August next year. We were wanting to check out Camp Manitou and the Manitou Weather Station, but were leaning more toward Camp Manitou. From what we've heard there is more rock structure down there and would fit more into trout water for that time of year. Would this be accurate for anyone who has fished the Manitou? Thanks.

Location: Lower Manitou Lake, Ont.
The entire system is good in my opinion. We are located in the middle of the stretch, esox is only 8-10 minutes away to the south and the main lake is only 15 minutes north of us. We have good muskie water right out our door, our second biggest fish of the season (50.5") was caught within site of the camp.
August is a good time to visit the area, all the muskies will be on the main lake rocks and the cabbage will be fully developed - it is probably the easiest time to target them (not that muskie fishing is ever easy), but it's nice to know exactly where to look for them vs. working shallows, emerging weeds, rock points, suspended fish, etc.
If you need any info, just email us.

Matt

there is some big fish swimming in the manitou straights, up past the weatherstation. also a good place to go fish if it is to windy to fish the big lake. not as much traffic either.

I have stayed with the Manitou Weather Station on 3 occasions and will continue to go back. The facility is outstanding and the team is very accommodating. The location is ideal near the straights. There is good fishing in all directions from camp. Rock, weeds, etc. and plenty of good fish. In my opinion, it is worth the extra 40 minute boat ride from Esox Landing. Happy to provide more specifics if you want to catch up offline.

Cheers,
Andy
