Posts: 24 Location: St.Cloud | Out fishing last October with the 4year old. Stopped at the store picked up some 10/12 in suckers and headed out to the lake. Fishing that day was good put a fish in the boat lost 4 others on live bait and had half dozen or more follows. The wierd thing I seen was when we lost one on the sucker and I was fixing the rig over the side. I looked down and out of the corner of my eye I seen a fish swimming towords the front of the boat. Dumbfounded for a second or two I remembered "crap my baits in the water" as I quikly grabbed my rod to do the figure 8 I seen the top of the trolling motor shake. I looked over the side and fish (about a 45in) had its mouth over the back of the trolling motor. I've seen skies look at it before but never try and eat it maybe I'm going to have to put hooks off the end of the trolling motor lol. Anyone else seen this before.

Posts: 646 Location: In a shack in the woods | Ive had them hit the trolling motor twice. Once at night (I'm sure I didn't see the fish follow). Once during the day. I fouled a baits hooks on the line. Reeled in quick and was fixing it. I let off the tm because my partners lure was getting close to the boat and boom. Both times it was after I let off the trolling motor. I'm assuming the second time he followed my fouled lure in while I wasn't paying attention.

Posts: 313 Location: Bemidji, Lake Vermilion | Have had them hit the trolling motor multiple times, mostly after dark, and when it was on very low setting. There is no doubt they totally tried to eat it. Bassin - you're a punk. Get up here and fish!! LOL

Posts: 631 Location: S.W. WI | My recent odd experience: A few monthes ago I seen a mid/upper 30's" vertical in the water sticking straight up, head out of water about one foot out of water, just sitting there, motionless, where I had just fished thru. Took me about 30 seconds to get back to him before he headed back down to the cribs. Odd critters indeed. Edited by Rudedog 8/20/2011 2:56 PM

Seen'em hit trolling motors even in the daytime not to eat but after following my lure in the t-motor was in the way and seen'em stick there heads up out of the water I think just to say I'm here you moron why don't you throw 10,000 more casts and you still won't catch me. The weirdest thing I ever saw was a 50 incher that had t-boned a 40 incher and ran on the surface for about 150 feet the 50 was moving at full speed the 40 was bent like a u in it's mouth and there was a huge wave shooting over the top of it. I always wonder if it was trying to eat it or if it was a territorial thing the 50 saying this is my hunting grounds and stay the blank out!!!

Posts: 1039 | I used to run an older bow mount Minn Kota trolling motor. I don't know what "noise" or "vibration" that prop kicked out, but it would get hit at least once a day up in Vilas county. I never knew what the noise was until I saw a few fish hit the prop and swim away. I did not have it happen to my Motor Guide or to my Maxxum. But this summer it happened again to my Terrova. I fished with Ranger Rick for walleyes once and the topic turned to muskies. Rick had the perfect quote for muskies... "Muskies aren't overly intelligent." He said that after describing a story in which he caught a muskie on a curtain rod he put into the water to find a rockbar.

Posts: 247 Location: Uxbridge Ontario | I am almost positive I have large 50+ fish that chased in double ten (black/ nickel blades) smoke my main engine prop. I was weaving a figure 8 and it followed it around twice then it disappeared. 5 seconds later, we heard a "THUD" and the motor shook. That was last year in Ontario.
