Posts: 32926 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | This is an announcement concerning the Sept 10th LSMC Muskie Tournament status.
Out of concern for our Lake Shelbyville muskie fishery, the Lake Shelbyville Muskie Club does not fish for, nor recommend the fishing for, muskies when the surface temperature of the water reaches or exceeds 80 degrees. The water temperature has been running in the low 80's recently; and when checked this morning, the surface temperatures at the lake are still in the 80's. Even if we get the cooling temperatures the forecasters are promising next week, it will be highly unlikely that they will lower the water surface temperatures enough to reach a temperature level sufficient for the safe catch and release of muskies by the scheduled tournament date. The last thing we want to do is harm our recovering muskie fishery at Lake Shelbyville. Also, we want to give tournament entrants, and those planning on entering, enough time to cancel their trip plans. Entry fees will be refunded to those who already have sent them in. As a result, we have cancelled the scheduled September 10th, 2011 LSMC Muskie Tournament.
Date conflicts do not allow us to reschedule this tournament for 2011. |
