| has anyone ever had problems with a corrupt chip?
I recently had my LCX-27c fry on me. didnt understand it, the day before it was perfect, the next time of use, it went bezerk.
anyway, My buddy Andy had a pretty much brand new HDS 7" , I put my chip in his graph, and it fried it!
now, its a good thing his was under warranty, he paid something like $14 and they shipped him a new one.
I felt so bad at first knowing that I had caused it, but very very thankful I didnt take it up north and plug it into the next guys graph I was fishing with.
anyway, is this a freak thing?
Im out a graph as it is, lowrance had offered me the$512 deal for an HDS model,
and now Im out a $160 chip as well. along with a few years of hard work and many many good spots. |

| the chip never got wet. always take good care of my stuff,
never leave it outside unless its being used.
only thing I can think of was the last time it was used, I had maxed out the
icons, I usually save frequently, and then I'll just delete all trails n whatnot.
the problem that happened with my graph next time out was it wouldnt turn on,
only way to turn it on was to unplug the power, and then hold the power button
in while plugging the unit back in.
Now, my buddies unit turned on, and wouldnt turn off. he'd unplug it, plug it back in, and it would turn on all by itself. the gps then went out, the sonar followed shortly after, and then it just flashed.
So... Now Im wondering if my graph would be able to be fixed if Navico can just reload the original firm ware onto it? or is it just plane out right fried?
has anyone ever sent a graph in and they were able to reload the program and it worked fine? for how long?
