Posts: 69 | I have a X37, and when I try to input an icon by hitting "enter" then "enter" like I have always done, no icon appears. No matter which icon I chose I cannot get it to store where I am trying to place it. Anybody have any ideas as to why this would happen? Thanks in advance.

Posts: 208 | I have a LMS 520 C and I can only enter Icons if its on the full map page for some reason. If its on split screen (map and sonar) it will not accept the icon? I have two of these units and only have this issue with the one.

Posts: 69 | That is one thing I have not tried, it has worked fine on split screen the past 3 years since I bought it. I will try that tomorrow. The weird thing is I can store waypoints and not icons while in the split screen view...

Posts: 208 | I'm curious to hear if it will accept Icons on full screen and if so we both need to figure out how to get this fixed because it's a pain in the you know what.

Posts: 897 | how many icons do you currently have on there? you only get 1000 icons and 1000 waypoints on that unit.

Posts: 69 | I am not sure, and I was not aware of that. But I have A LOT. Is there a way to store them on a memory card after the unit is full?

Posts: 697 Location: Minnetonka | Your icons list is full. Get a blank SD card, put it in and go Menu, Menu, System Setup, Transfer My Data, select Save. Then go Menu, Delete My Icons, select Delete All My Icons. Start over and then you can just load your old icons off the card as you need them. The 38 has a hard drive onto which you could save the file, but the 37 does not, so you have to use a card. Hope this helps.

Posts: 69 | When I save my icons onto the card and load them as I need them, is there a way to select just the ones for the specific body of water I am on, or how can I load just what I need?

Location: Contrarian Island | you can't....you can only load the entire file ...whatever you save that is on the unit, on every lake, icons, trails, etc...will then re-load when you load the file...best thing one can do is start from scratch on each lake you plan to fish a lot and save each lake or group of lakes or whatever you come up with as it's own file with date...I have files for each lake I fish w the date...each time I update the file with new icons etc I rename the file to the new date..ie. Wauby71811 then I can delete the old one...it takes a bit of time but once you do it a few times it's a breeze...back up the files on your computer as well...

Posts: 1901 Location: MN | I think with Lowrance there is a way to do what you want DBlock. Save all icons to a blank SD card as described. But instead of then deleting all icons, delete everything except for the lake or group of lakes you want to save those on a file and name it as Ben describes. Then load all back on from the card, delete all but a different set of lakes and save the remaining to a file and name it. Keep doing this for as many regions as you like, then eventually delete all again. Then when you fish a lake or region, upload that file and away you go. I know this is close, I may have left out a step or two, but it is basically what Ben stated only you don't have to start from scratch - you can do it with all the icons you've already accumulated.

Location: Contrarian Island | yes you could do it as described above...would take A LOT of time as if your gps unit is full you have 1000 icons laid down... could be done tho... once you get your lakes mapped out it makes things a lot easier on the water...unless you just follow your trails... ![]()

Posts: 86 | I was looking to do the same thing a couple of years ago and was told by someone I would have to do what Propster described. I agree w Bnelson...that would have taken me FOREVER with around 1000 waypoints. I did some searching on the internet and I found a free gps data program. I believe it may have been the gps data manager from lowrance, but I'm not exactly sure. Anyhow, I downloaded the program and uploaded all of my waypoints. Once my waypoints were in the program, I saved them/named them by regions (hayward area, Eagle River, N. IL , etc...). Since they were saved by region I would only upload whatever area I was going to then rename/resave that area with the date when I was done fishing that area (What bnelson described earlier). It took a little bit to figure out the program and save by different region, but I think I got all (900) of my waypoints organized in about 4 1/2 hours. (I think I had to upload all waypoints and delete a lot , BUT it was MUCH easier doing it on a computer instead of the unit.) I think this is what I used... http://www.lowrance.com/Downloads/GPS-Data-Manager-GDM/ Good Luck!
