Posts: 615 Location: Madison, WI | This surfster swims just sub surface with the tail waking the top of the water. It swims with both a tail wag and a body roll....I love the action on these. MS

Posts: 41 | Slayer that is a fine looking plug! Top notch work. One trick I use with lips like that, like on the old surfster pikies is to drill a tiny hole at the front edge of the lip and tie on there. The lure will bulge just under the surface with a wide S action but we're talking s-l-o-w. You have to crawl it along with a super slow retrieve or it will roll over. They don't always want slow but when they do it works well. You can do this with a standard pikie too and go a bit faster (and deeper). gives a much more erratic action.

Posts: 615 Location: Madison, WI | LM, Thanks for the tips! You do have to move this slow to get the waking action. On the other hand, the position of the line tie also allows for tuning. For instance, if you bend the line tie up slightly it will cause the plug to dive a little and with the deeper run, the tail teaser will stabilize it and allow for faster retrieve speeds, and actually some twitching action. the same effect can be obtained by proper weighting as well. Thanks again for all the kind words guys. this is a great forum with extremely talented builders/fishermen. good luck out there, MS
