Posts: 994 Location: Minnesota: where it's tough to be a sportsfan! | Anyone hear about or have a good reference about a 56" fish caught in the Steamboat Bay area of Leech. Would really like to see a picture of this fish if possible. Thanks, Jake 2010's best quote in my boat " BAM! that just hapened, and that's the stuff nightmares are made of" Koss, after coming unbuttoned just shy of the nets reach.

Posts: 10 | All I can say is I would find it hard to believe a fish that large came out of Steamboat Bay. Not very Deep water in the Bay Deepest spot may be 11 ft

If it actually happened, I would believe it 110% and I have a pretty good idea as to who probably caught it if it did.

Posts: 86 Location: north metro, MN | was out there friday to monday and did not hear anything about that. but if it did happen it would take time to spread because steamboat is for sure not one of leech's prime spots

Not very Deep water in the Bay Deepest spot may be 11 ft" This fish may or may not have been caught, but one thing I know for sure about Leech based on 18 years of fishing there is that big fish are all over this lake, and not just on the "prime spots". My personal best (last August 4th) and the biggest fish I've ever seen there (7 years ago) didn't come from a prime muskie spot, but from a prime perch and northern spot. There isn't a place on Leech we haven't seen or hooked muskies. I'd never discount Steamboat Bay or any bay there as a big fish producer.

Posts: 233 Location: Iowa | Since two/thirds of Leech is under 15', there can't be any big fish in there. Have to agree with Mr. Williams, you have a chance at a dandy anywhere on the Lake. Jeremy

Posts: 86 Location: north metro, MN | i agree with both the statements above. my my old pb was from a little hump that my dad found 25 years ago in the middle of portage that he marked on his gps. i troll it on it once every year or so when the fishing is slow elsewhere, and have pulled a 39 and a 48.5 off of it before. so those fish on leech can honestly be anywhere. but i would think they would use more mid lake humps that someone drives over once a year rather then steamboat. i am sure there are many more like the one my old man found that no one knows about.. not asking where. but for any of the other guys who fish leech a bit, any of you have some type of hump or anything like that out there that you stop in at and fish once and awhile?
