| I'll be heading up to Vilas next weekend and staying on Boot Lake. Never fished this lake, is it worthwhile? Only staying for a few days so if its a decent lake I might concentrate efforts there based on convenience. Any areas to target?

| I fished it once a couple of years ago and had great action - several blowups/ follows and lost a good hi30/lo40 fish in about 5 hours on the lake. Lot of fun and less pressure than some of the others in the area. Pretty easy to fish as weeds ring the lake. Start from the launch and follow the weeds around the lake. I moved fish on spinnerbaits, bucktails and topwater. I think its worth a shot. |

Location: Kronenwetter, WI | Boot can be a great action lake. The east facing point on the north end is a good bet as is the west facing weed point on the east end. 3Stripe is right...you can and should do the entire lake...not real big. I've found if they're on they're on. One of those lakes you can put a couple hours in and get off if the action is not happening. Snipe, Muskellunge, and the ER chain are all good bets and within 5-minute drive of there. |

Location: Minocqua, WI | A lot of weeds everywhere. Fun topwater lake. Best fished in early season as it warms up.
For additional options I'd recommend Hunter as well as Pickerel (off G / tough access thru shallow creek) but I was out there on Friday morning and it's in the midst of a very bad algae bloom. Didn't see any life in 4hrs.
Good luck. These are all fun little lakes to hop around at. |
