After years and years of hearing the Lake St. Clair stereotype that all the fish are “skinny” I would like to attempt to set the record straight. It is true that the fish in the lake have not always amassed monstrous girths however with the VHS virus vastly thinning the herd of the weaker fish as well as the bait fish populations exploding in recent years I can honestly say that the fishes build on Clair are extremely respectable. After guiding the spring in Indiana I have since spent the last 3 weeks guiding back home on Lake St. Clair before I head to Minnesota. In that time we were lucky enough to run into some really nice fish most of which were caught casting. While there, we averaged over 3 fish over 40 in the boat per day and 1.5 fish over 45 per day with many fish over 50 inches. It honestly will be extremely hard to leave however I will be returning to guide on Clair all of October and November for some late season trophies. Here is some of my proof as to the build of these fish on Lake St. Clair.

Gee, thanks Spencer...I look just "fabulous" in my picture.

I'm the fatass with the beard and everyone needs to know I've gained like 15-20 lbs over the last 6 weeks of laying on the couch so I'm not usually so slovenly and rotund. But thanks for getting me out Spenc. I'm borderline suicidal on the couch, so I'm glad you called. We'll hit it again...my boat next time I hope.

Don't forget to send me my pics, and check your email. I sent you some pics to look at....

Beauty Fish.......after 30 years in this stupid game I still haven't caught a spotted muskie ( lots of barred and imaculatus ) I guess I will have to make a long drive.

Very nice fish Spencer! Man I LOVE the blue/green color to that St. Clair water and those beautiful spotted 'skis that come out of there! Looks like you're fishing out of the ocean in that last pic!

Doc says I can go to work and do desk duty, so I take that to mean I can sit while Spencer tends lines and then reel in an occasional fish.... Still on crutches and still can't launch my own boat, but I have now fully assumed the mantle of "boat whore" until further notice. I'm hoping to salvage the fall in my own boat. We'll see...
