I am courious to know when to start trolling deep ? Is there any signs to tell me to start heading towards the deep water ? I mainly fish Chautauqua lake in NY but also fish a couple of smaller lakes in NY and PA with deep water . And should I slow my trolling speed down while my baits are deep ? my normal speed is from 4 to 6 mph .

Now might be a good time to start, 4mph is a good place to start but don't be shy about cranking it up a bit from time to time.

I would let your finder tell you how dep to fish. We caught fish today trolling 4.5-5mph with spinnerbaits over shallow weeds. Also caught them shallow(8-10ft) over deeper water at about the same speed.
