Hard work pays off is what I got from the article. Here's how I break it down:

Win consistently on the "pro" circuit,
pimp yourself so that industry leaders will want you to pimp them,
and then stay pimpin'. (in the positive slang definition of the word).

Subjectively, the moral of this story is: pimpin ain't easy man- and there are a whole lot folks claiming to be pimps that have no respect for the game(metaphorically speaking)!
