The 2011 edition of Operation Muskie is coming up fast - it's next week! Check out the Operation Muskie website for pictures of the vets and guides who will be attending, and then check back each day next week for daily updates, fishing reports, and pictures! http://operationmuskie.com/ The 20 veterans will be welcomed in Warroad, MN on Monday morning June 27th, with an honor guard presenting the colors (flags), a hearty send-off breakfast, and a Patriot Guard motorcycle escort to the border. A short drive and after a brief stop for fishing licenses, they'll be greeted at the Northwest Angle by the 10 guides, load up the boats, and head to Baystore Camp on Oak Island. Once on site, the opening ceremony will include introductions and each vet will receive a vertitable "boatload" of new fishing gear: lures, rod/reel, clothing, etc.! 4 days of world-class muskie fishing, camaraderie, and a much-deserved chance to relax will follow. This is only possible through YOUR help - special thank you to all of those who have supported Operation Muskie over the past 4 years!

Posts: 285 Location: Price County WI | A big thanks to Larry and Adam Carter who bought my trip this year on the OM auction. They were great clients and fun to fish with. I am proud to now call them my friends!!! Thank you Larry Carter and every other Vet out there, there is nothing that I can give to equal what you have given for all of us!!!

Posts: 173 | Thanks for everything John. We certainly had a great time ! Brief FYI for others challenged with limited mobility : John uses a boat laid out great for physical handicaps , launches on quality water with docks where getting onboard is easy. Fun guy that knows fish . Bet he can teach a unique retrieve of a Bobbie ! Gets action in those "ideal" conditions of east winds and steadily dropping water temps. See you this fall John.

Posts: 906 Location: Warroad, Mn | Over to Bay Store this afternoon. Looks like things are pretty well set up to welcome the Vets. Lots of tackle other goodies from many generous donators, and many thanks to all who helped. The Vets will be met by an honor guard tomorrow morning at the Patch, with a breakfast to follow. They will be motorcycle escorted to the border by the Patriot Guard (a group of Vets who do this). We're looking for them to arrive around 11:00 or so at Young's Bay.Then off to Bay Store and the muskies. Many thanks to all who helped. And many-many more thanks to the Vets, who have made some great sacrifices (as the previous poster just pointed out, to giving their life) to help keep us free. This is an event that is quite emotional for me. Wish I could thank the Guys and Gals even more.Doug Johnson Edited by dougj 6/26/2011 7:18 PM
