Location: Minneapolis | I have a rod with a handle that can be unscrewed in the middle for transportation or to change handle length and it broke at that connection point.
I'm pretty sure the whole handle has to be replaced. Does anyone have experience with replacing/fixing broken rod handles?

Location: Smith Creek | What broke? I assume the handle section has a bolt (male) and screws into the threads (female) in the reel seat? Or is it the other way around? Regardless, I believe Mudhole custom tackle or possibly Thorne's would have repair parts. |

Location: Land of the Musky | Easy to do on your own OR take it to a rod shop and then can build you a new one. Hard thing about doing it yourself is that you need to buy all of the cork, glue, new shaft, etc. Plus you need a good way to make the new handle "round". I have a method I use but do not have the correct equipment. Try www.Mudehole.com. They have about everythign you need. I also have a few gold shafts that I can sell you if you want to use them to build your new handle onto. PIKEMASTER is very very good with this too. Much better than me  |

Location: Minneapolis | Basically the female end that the handles screw into, that anchors into the main rod came loose and cracked the upper cork handle of the rod (the half of the handle that doesn't unscrew)
The closest place to me is Throne Bros, but that is really far!

Location: Smith Creek | How close are you to Marine on St. Croix? There is a business there called Wild River Distributing that carries components and could probably point you in the right direction for repairs. From the sounds of it all you need is a few cork rings and some 2 part epoxy. |

Location: syracuse indiana | hey tc this is what i did and it worked on the same problem... clean it all up reall good, and make sure you scar up the inside of the rod inside of the cork. then use a good ammount of jb weld, then i useda hose clamp and tightened it oll up together and believe me it worked and better than what it was. much stronger too ..not after it dries in a day i let it set 24 hrs, remove the hose clamp and your good to go.. i also used a rod wrap to cover the hole bottom part of the handle so it dont look bad.. try it it will work....bill |
