| we will be taking a vacation towards the end of august. girlfriend is a nurse and her vacation schedule is based on her doctors. I have been trying to decide whether to go to lake st. clair or go on up to the u.p. and fish the st.mary's river ( munuscong bay area ). I have never fished st. clair and have not fished the st. mary's river in about 30 years ( telling my age ). would like to try st.clair but also would like a fish camp enviroment, I can stay in a motel anytime, would like a cabin and the atsmosphere. are there any fishing resorts on the u.s. side of st.clair? has anyone fished the munuscong bay area lately? it was up there where I caught my first two muskies years ago that started this madness!! also would be open for suggestions, coming from the dayton, ohio area. I know not the best time of year to go but anytime on the water is good!! thanks for your input. |

Location: northern indiana | I will kep an eye on this thread but I have 2 buddies that are on St. Clair right now and are tearing them up. That would be my sugestion. Good luck |

| Fishing camps on St Clair are scarce. Hidden Harbour has some cottage units and Anglers Point has one unit. Certainly not your typical resort area.
Either lake you try better check up on the change of enforcement by Canadian Border Patrol. That $ 1000 fine for crossing the boundary without checking in will ruin a trip. |

Location: Kodiak, AK | Like Larry said, most of the US side is pretty "civilized" and as close as you'll get to a fish camp would be a cottage for rent. But again, nothing I'd call a resort or a camp. If you're looking for that setting, LSC is not for you.
As far as fish, I'm at home with a broken leg, but the majority of the reports I'm getting from friends are tons of smaller fish (30's) with a seldom occasional larger fish thrown in. |

| thanks larry,
just called and they have cabins available during that time. now I just need to make my mind up. how far out would you have to go to find fish in late august? I would guess you would have to be in the shipping lanes, but like I said before I have never fished there.
anyone fish st. mary's river? what is it like that time of year? thanks for everyones help. |

Location: Ludington, MI | I had some friends take a trolling trip to the Canada side of St. Clair early this month and they got 15 but the biggest was 36 inches or something. Someone told me St. Mary's is a better fall fishery than summer. Tahquamenon is loaded with muskies nearby, though so you might be able to do a 1-2 trip to St. Mary's with that.
