| Hi Guys:
My buddy bought a new Ranger 620 at the end of last summer with a 250 ETEC.
We didn't have our trip meter set this weekend, but on the MN musky opener we fished 3 different lakes over the weekend nothing more than 3000 acres and burned through 33 gallons of gas.
That just shocked us.
Can anyone with the larger ETECs (200, 225, 250) give me an idea of what you are getting for mileage per gallon?
Thanks |

| Is the motor broken in? Are you WOT while moving from spot to spot? How about trim? Are you trimmed all the way down all the time? 33 gals does seem like alot, but the ETEC isn't as good on fuel as the Opti's are. How much oil did you use? What type? X50 or 100? |

No, we were not going WOT throttle from spot to spot. But, I did notice that he isn't real good about trimming the motor up when we are on the move. I told him that may be part of the problem is that he is "pushing" water like a barge when he isn't trimmed up probably on the move. He does trim it up when going at the higher speeds. But let's say moving from one spot to another just across the lake, he doesn't trim it up.
I'm not sure what the break in period is, but he still may just be on the tail end of it. He has been putting in X50 and now we have a full gas tank and full oil tank, he has set the trip meter so we know exactly what we are using for the next trip.

Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | 620's a big heavy boat and the 250HO is a big powerful engine. I would be surprised if you averaged better then 4mpg on that rig. I know on my bass boat with a 225 opti I average about 5mpg and I really watch my fuel flow display to make sure I'm running optimum. If I didn't I'd be running around 4mpg. At WOT I get it down to closer to 3-3.5mpg. Remember my boat is probably a good 500# lighter with 25+ fewer HP and an opti which is more efficient then the etech by all 3rd party comparison's I've read.
Also the prop you run can make a difference as well. I run a 25p most of the time, but if I run a 26p (fall usually to keep off the limiter) I lose around .5-1mph. Same thing when I run a 4 blade vs 3 blade (3 is more fuel efficient on my rig).
