Has anyone here had problems with using the Minnesota Lakemaster chips in Humminbirds? I bought one last summer and had problems in both my 997 and my 858. It is taking about 20 seconds or so for the map to update as you move. The navionics chips seem to work fine in both units.

Also, be sure to set your Chart Orientation to "North Up". If your HB software is current and you're in North Up and they are still that slow, contact LakeMaster.

"North Up"? Is that true? I hate using that orientation, I always want the direction I am pointing up on the screen so I use "Course Up". It that is true that I need to use North Up I am very disappointed. To me this issue seems similar to those complaining on the Lowrance side so I dont think its the chip.

North up makes it easier on the processor.

The newer units do not have this issue I understand, but yours, like mine, does. Would be interested to hear what year your unit is. When working structure I use course up and am fine. It is when zooming in that it takes 3-4 seconds for it to load. Mine is a 2009 1157c. It is a matter of the large amount of data on the LM chips. No processor upgrades are available to address the issue according to my communications with HB techs. Your options are to use north up, zoom out as wide as is feasible or upgrade to a newer unit. Like I said mine is not so bad...3-4 seconds to load.

I just installed a 597HD DI Combo that was purchased 2 weeks ago. I put the Lakemaster MN chip in and am having this issue. It takes 20 seconds to load when I zoom in and out. I used it for the first time last wekeend so I will try changing the course option and see if that helps. I have not contacted HB or Lakemaster yet. If I am stuck with this problem I will return the chip and get a Navionics chip.

Mine does this with a 2010 997 and a 2010 958 model. I tried it on the lake a few days ago and it seems to work a little better if it is set at the 500 feet zoom setting but if you zoom in or out it takes a long time to reload. Also, if it is zoomed in more than 500 feet it doesn't keep up as you are moving even at 5-10 mph. I called Lakemaster while on the lake and they said they have had some calls about it but they dont think the delay is too big of a problem. They said I could send the chip in and they could check it out but it didn't sound very promising. The navionics chips seem to work just fine in both units.
