I'm heading up in the later part of July for a week. Planning on fishing the lake if it isn't too windy. My rig isn't the biggest so I'm guessing Walker bay might be the best for me and my buddy. Most of the reports I've read seem to be from the main basin of this lake. Is Walker bay worth hitting for muskies? Or should I just hope for a calm day and head out on the main lake?

Hiya,

Lots of places you can hit in the walker bay area. Head south toward Shingobee bay and there are nice weed edges, head a little east from there and you can get into Agency bay with lots of weed edges as well. Not sure how much of those will be nice cabbage as the rusty crayfish have done their job on them, but there have to be fish around those areas...the all don't head to the main basin..

If you go north from the public access, there will be places there as well along the west side of the lake. Lots of good trolling water there as well...

Ilive on Kabekona bay fish the big reef with the markers on it and then go straight west until you hit the break line cast it all one up shallow and the other throwing a crank bait down the edge. and then wave as you go by my house great fish there not fished much until late fall the best of luck to you Don

What size boat and motor do you have? I have a 16 ft Sylvan. I'm on the east side of Leech and I pick the days to get on the lake that don't have the 3-4 ft breakers. 9/10 days I can get out of the harbor and onto the lake with access to Pipe, Pelican, Bear, Submarine Islands. The other days I get to other area lakes that are out of the wind. Drive your rig over to the Federal campground access on Stony Point just east of Walker on 371 or the east side public access up highway 39/Brevik. You'll have access to all of the above areas. Walker Bay and its humps is a good place to deep troll for muskies. The Agency Narrows all the way into Agency Bay is loaded with weeds. GrandView Flats is a large weedy area east of the Walker Narrows that gets alot of muskie action. Lots of northern and largemouth and perch along the reeds in the Walker Narrows. You'd have easy access to these areas from the Stony launch and Agency Bay thru the Roosevelt Canal. I'd even hit the bay that goes southeast of Walker all the way to hiway 371-can't remember its name. Kabekona Bay looks like a great place to fish, but I've never been in there. Check out Jim Murphy's site-fishingleechlake.com for a good fishing report with a user forum.
