I was changing my plugs in my 9.9 four stroke johnson and i noticed something just lying on the bottom. Is this a tool that somebody dropped or part of the engine?

Its about 2.5 inches long and has a spring type assembly on it.

Engine seems to run fine, but i am curious.

thanks, Rob

Is there a parts breakout w/pictures for your motor online? Take it to a local dealer that works on your brand of motors and ask him? I have some other ideas....PM me if you want.

I think it is for the eletric choke, it is the part that goes inside of the solenoid and moves when the choke is used.

Well, it is part of the automatic choke. Now, the problem is according to boats.net my engine J10EL4SR doesnt exist? It is a 2004 Johnson 9.9 4 stroke remote, but i can not find the part number of the piece i need.

This is VERY frustrating, anybody have any ideas or know somebody who works for Johnson?

Much appreciated, thanks, Rob

I'd contact the service department at Evinrude/ Bombardier or an authorized Evinrude dealer.
