Has anyone stayed at Colgrove's Eagle Lake Lodge on the N.E. corner of Eagle Lake Ontario? I would be interested in any comments on this fishing camp, such as facilities, staff, or location.

Had a mishap several years ago while staying at a private cabin and had a chance to meet the owner's, they were extremely helpful and friendly. Can't tell you much about the facilities or equipment ( cabins looked nice from the outside as did the grounds), but the location is good, you are certainly close to very productve and famous musky spots. The one negative I can think of is you are sitting on a very open part of the lake and whenever you get heavy winds, especially any kind of wind from the South, you are pretty unprotected and fishing/traveling in big waves out there can be troublesome without the proper boat.

Winds aren't a factor they have your boat anchored along the beach in shallow waters and your boat will point its head towards the wind. We had our 619 ranger there with no problems we are going up there first week of August. Awesome food, the owners are very nice and cabins are surprisingly big

I have seen small aluminum resort boats many days on that part of the lake that would not agree with "wind is not a factor".

Zach - which is faster: a 619 with a 200 or a Tuffy 1760 w/ a 150. If you don't know the answer, ask your Dad. Highlight of his birthday if I remember....

I have stayed there before, nice people! Because the entire north end is a shallow sand beach they use mooring buoys to secure the boats. You are very close to some outstanding musky spots! Strong south winds can make the trip to colemans interesting.

Great resort in an awesome area on the lake! Owners are a ton of fun as well.
There located next to the public launch so pulling your boat at the end of the day is no big deal if the wind becomes a problem. I have done that pleanty of times.

I have a 16 foot boat with a 40 hp motor. Would my boat be be adequate or does the resort have longer upgrade boats with trolling motors for rent?

says they have 18 foot boats, not sure about the quality or what they are equiped with, you may want to ask. And yes your boat will be adequate, and who knows...you may get a week where you never see wind or a week where it's 25 MPH every day. I was just letting you know that from experience I would say 2-3 days per week, at minimum, it does get rough out there and sometimes you are limited as to where you can fish if you don't have a good trolling motor/deeper V boat

Strangely I remember the 1760 slowly leaving the 619 behind. But it was pretty hot that week and my memory might be a bit fuzzy.

Tell your Dad that next year "we're racin for pinks!"

You are right it was a while ago, our excuse was a full gas tank, 3 guys and a boat load of coffee crisp bars (only in Canada).

I think he'd be happy to toss the pinks in!
