Open up your latest 2011 R&H Musky Shop Catalog and then turn the page.

"The new Shimano Curado 300EJ will let you FEEL THE POWER!"

I'm curious about the "bucktail burning 6.9:1 gear ratio" (the words used in this advertisement, not mine) this thing comes with... is this really going to be capable of burning bucktails?  And when they use the word "bucktail", they're speaking in relative terms, correct?

i.e., they're talking about a Mepps #5 and not a Double 10 or 13, correct?  I'd imagine the line pick-up is nothing short of extraordinary but you're not actually going to be able to burn a large Double 10, right?  Or am I missing something?  I like the looks of this reel in their advertisement with the low-profile and large power handle.... but seems to me it would be identical to a Revo Toro HS, which I already have and use as my jerkbait/glidebait reel.

Is Shimano blowin' smoke and using creative advertising?  Or am I really going to "feel the power"?

I just bought one and I will most likely be using it to burn showgirls and smaller, it has the same HEG as the TE per the 2 shimano reps I spoke with, one at Milwaukee other at Madison. So I wouldn't use it for dbl 10's or 13's but for smaller bucktails with a 6:9:1 it should be really nice. I haven't used it yet but once I do I will beat the crap out of it and post a report.

I dont know about a low profile being able to "burn 10 blades". I have a Daiwa Saltist 30H convential with a power handle and its very difficult to burn them even with that power. I also have a power handle for my calcutta 400 and I dont know if it even helps pulling the big blades in faster. I know it helps from burning out your writst and arms but speed, I just dont think it will help. If it does make sure to let everyone know!!!
